Ask your AI agent what your app has cost so far

Pricing data last checked: 2026-10-16. Open source, MIT license.

VibeCost's MCP server gives your coding agent three tools: get_pricing (current plans for every major AI app builder), estimate_project_cost (spent so far, breakdown, assumptions and a projection to finish) and share_project_cost (an optional, anonymous share that helps other builders).

Install

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

  "mcpServers": {
    "vibecost": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "vibecost", "mcp"] }

Then ask: "What has this project cost me so far, and what will it cost to finish?"

FAQ

Does it send my data anywhere?

Estimates run on your machine. It fetches public pricing from vibecost.dev/pricing.json. Sharing is opt-in: only builder, plan, rough app type, builder spend, an optional other-costs total and duration are sent, and only after you agree.

Which tools can it read usage from automatically?

Claude Code, from its local session logs. It still asks whether you pay with a Claude Pro or Max subscription or per token, because that decides what you actually paid. Cursor can import the usage CSV from your Cursor dashboard. Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit and Base44 keep usage in the cloud, so your agent asks you for credits or tokens used.

Can it include hosting, domain and email costs?

Yes, if you enter them. Hosting, domain, email and API key costs are shown as costs you entered, with their own subtotal and a grand total next to the builder spend.

What if my tool isn't listed?

Pick Other / AI agent (for example Grok Bot, Windsurf or Codex) and enter what you pay per month plus any extra usage charges. Only the prices you enter are used.

Does it guess per-message costs?

No. It only uses published prices. The one conversion is Lovable's own examples of 0.5 to 1.7 credits per message, shown as a range.

Is it free?

Yes. It's open source under the MIT license.
